Phytoponics’ CEO Adam Chosen as a European Finalist for UN Young Champions of the Earth

UN Young Champions of the Earth

We are proud to announce that our CEO Adam is a UN Young Champions of the Earth finalist for Europe.

Young Champions of the Earth is a competition run by the UN which seeks to breathe life into the ambitions of brilliant young environmentalists who have a vision for a sustainable future. Each year, six young people aged between 18 and 30 will be named Young Champions of the Earth, one from each global region. These winners receive seed funding, intensive training, and tailored mentorship to help them bring their big environmental ideas to life.

Talking about the programme Erik Solheim, head of UN Environment said: “The future of our planet depends on our ability to innovate. And when it comes to environmental solutions, we’re only at the beginning of what I’m convinced will be a major economic revolution. These regional finalists are examples of the passion, drive and creativity that will underpin the coming change. These young innovators need to be empowered so that they can fulfill their potential and shape the future.

Adam was chosen, from over 600 applicants, as one of the 30 regional finalists after presenting our innovative hydroponic technology that will make hydroponics more affordable and sustainable, thus making fresh produce abundant for the world’s growing population.

Voting is now open until 31st August for the public to vote for their favourite champions. Informed by your opinion, Regional Juries will in early September select two “World Finalists” per world region. A Global Jury will then select six Young Champions of the Earth. The winners will be invited to attend the Champions of the Earth Gala Dinner in Nairobi in December 2017 and will each receive USD 15,000 in seed funding, expert mentoring, needs-based training and access to powerful networks.
